Doctoral Program Requirements

Requirements for doctoral degree (Article 9 of Guidelines on Management of Doctoral Programs)

  • Credits
  • Minimum enrollment period and maximum study duration: At least two semesters (one year), no more than five years
  • Comprehensive exam
  • Passing of thesis evaluation

General

  • Overall GPA : At least 2.5/4.3
  • Comprehensive exam : Pass
  • Leadership : For students in MS/PhD Integrated Program: S (grade)
  • Comprehensive Exam : Major exam and oral defense: Pass
  • Ethics and Safety : 1AU

Leadership: For students admitted in 2002 or later. Does not apply to general scholarship recipients, international students, and techno MBA students.

  • Doctoral theses must be of high quality, and meet the following requirements.
    • Published or approved for publication, either partially or wholly, in an academic journal
    • Recommended by the department based on separate criteria
